Hiroshi Yanagi is a leading dealer in Japanese art. He started his career in 1968, and beginning in the 1970s, worked in the London trade for 12 years. He established his first gallery in Kyoto in 1986. Since then, he has assembled outstanding collections focusing on Japanese screens, paintings, and ceramics of the Edo (1615-1868) and Meiji Periods (1868-1912). Buddhist art, particularly ritual sculpture in wood, is another area of interest.

Mr. Yanagi has built a large American and European clientele, having participated in the International Asian Art Fair since 1998-2007 and presented three exhibitions in New York in previous years as part of Asia Week, in conjunction with the Asian Art Dealers of New York (AADNY).
